The world has lost a beautiful person and the online community has lost a beloved friend. Andrea Collins Smith, aka Punk Rock Mommy, has passed on after waging a brave battle against inflammatory breast cancer. Her husband posted the news of her passing on the site on Saturday, along with a post that she had prepared for the day that she knew would come.
Andrea was not someone that I knew well, but I had read her journal a few times recently and am deeply saddened at the news of her passing. She seemed to be a beautiful person that I would have enjoyed knowing well. I wish that I had found her sooner.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and six children. I can only imagine the pain they must feel. However, reading her final post and knowing that she had found peace with her fate and with God, I can only hope that the rest of her family has the same peace in the knowledge that one day they will be together again.
