My littler boys are of that age where they want to watch the same movies over and over…and over. I was getting to a point where if I watched the same Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs or Toy Story 2 one more time, I was going to gouge my eyes out. I have been desperate to find something new and exciting for them to watch, but haven’t had much in the way of an entertainment budget to buy or rent DVDs. Then I remembered the dozens of movies that my oldest had on VHS when he was little. My mom had stored them away, so I called dad to throw a few in a bag and take to work to give hubby.

Little did I know what I was in for. In that bag was a few Disney favorites from the past – The Little Mermaid, Lion King and The Jungle Book , plus a half a dozen Land Before Time movies. Those went over well, but my kids’ newest obsession was a movie I had completely forgotten about:

The Little Rascals

K begs for this movie, several times a day. He can’t remember the name, so he just calls it the kids. He runs around the house, acting the scenes out along with the movie, even stripping down to his diaper when Alfalfa gets chased around the neighborhood in his underwear. He absolutely loves it!

While I’m back in the trap of watching the same movie repeatedly, I’m enjoying the memories of my now-teenager as a little boy, loving the same scenes of one of our favorite movies of his childhood.

What movies have you resurrected from the past to share with your kids?
