Comment-phobia Challenge

by Shannan on November 25, 2008

Last night, I was chatting with some friends on Twitter (funny how Twitter turns up in half my posts) and got on the subject of my unreasonable fear of commenting on people’s blogs. I ashamedly admitted that I am basically terrified of commenting on other people’s blogs. Silly? yeah, I know.

I go to everyone’s blogs, read their amazing, funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking posts and type well thought replies in the comments section. Then I reread what I wrote, decide I sound like a moron, delete it all and leave without saying a word. I’m self-conscious about what people think of my thoughts and opinions sometimes, and for no good reason.

My blogger friend, Kristen King, claimed she was staging an intervention. I was required to comment on her new blog today and I followed through. Heck, I even visited a couple of other friends and said a lil something on their latest posts.

You know what? I was okay! I didn’t get nasty emails calling me an idiot, no one unfollowed me on Twitter. I got nothing but nice responses that made me feel like I was part of their blog’s community. So this is what social networking is about! Who knew?

I’m so inspired by the whole thing that I have decided to issue my own challenge to everyone who is a comment-phobe and even to those who aren’t. I want each of you to visit a blog or two (or three or twelve) and comment on their latest post. If you want to play, add your blog to my Mr Linky and visit one of your neighbors on the Linky. Come back whenever you like and pick another new blog to visit and comment on.

We can all work on building our blog community, improving our social skills, and bringing in a little new traffic, to boot! I hope you decide to join me in the challenge and have a great time participating.

How Did I Get Here? My WAHM Story

November 25, 2008

Lately, I’ve seen a huge upswing in traffic around here. Not totally sure what it’s all from, but hey, I’ll take all the love I can get. I figured some of my new friends (and old ones who don’t know my history) might want to know a little more about me, so I thought I’d [...]

The Jimmies CD Review and Giveaway

November 21, 2008

If your kids are anything like mine, their favorite things on TV are the silly songs that are played between the shows on Noggin and Sprout. You spend your days humming the melodic tunes or singing along with the nonsensical lyrics. Hey, anything’s better than Twinkle, Twinkle or the I Love You song, right? (Not [...]

First Cold of the Season

November 13, 2008

It’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the weather’s getting colder and noses are starting to run. Poor little D got hit with the first cold of the season over the weekend, which he has graciously shared with mommy. See how well he’s learning his social skills? After several days of whining [...]

Its Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

November 3, 2008

Yeah, I said the C-word! I know, I know – Halloween just ended, but if my weekend trip to Walmart is any indication of the things to come, Christmas is a heartbeat away! Another little something that clued me in that the fat man in the red suit would be coming around soon is a [...]

Your Thoughts and Prayers Are Needed

November 2, 2008

My friend Nikki, of The Guilty Parent, has a niece who could use your thoughts and prayers right now. Six year old Zoe has issues with cardiomyopathy that have become so severe that she is now awaiting a heart transplant. Over the weekend, she had so medical issues that have landed her in the hospital, [...]
