Last night, I was chatting with some friends on Twitter (funny how Twitter turns up in half my posts) and got on the subject of my unreasonable fear of commenting on people’s blogs. I ashamedly admitted that I am basically terrified of commenting on other people’s blogs. Silly? yeah, I know.
I go to everyone’s blogs, read their amazing, funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking posts and type well thought replies in the comments section. Then I reread what I wrote, decide I sound like a moron, delete it all and leave without saying a word. I’m self-conscious about what people think of my thoughts and opinions sometimes, and for no good reason.
My blogger friend, Kristen King, claimed she was staging an intervention. I was required to comment on her new blog today and I followed through. Heck, I even visited a couple of other friends and said a lil something on their latest posts.
You know what? I was okay! I didn’t get nasty emails calling me an idiot, no one unfollowed me on Twitter. I got nothing but nice responses that made me feel like I was part of their blog’s community. So this is what social networking is about! Who knew?
I’m so inspired by the whole thing that I have decided to issue my own challenge to everyone who is a comment-phobe and even to those who aren’t. I want each of you to visit a blog or two (or three or twelve) and comment on their latest post. If you want to play, add your blog to my Mr Linky and visit one of your neighbors on the Linky. Come back whenever you like and pick another new blog to visit and comment on.
We can all work on building our blog community, improving our social skills, and bringing in a little new traffic, to boot! I hope you decide to join me in the challenge and have a great time participating.

I won’t add my blog to your Mr. Linky because I have no fear of commenting. Lately I’ve had to curb the commentary in order to get more done and see more blogs, but I LOVE letting people know I came by. I guess it is because I love it when people tell me they came to MY blog, just because it seems so friendly! I always wonder why so many people come and so few actually comment. Now I know. Maybe they need an intervention! LOL!
Happy commenting!

I’m not necessarily afraid to comment on your blog but others, especially if it’s my first visit… worries the snot out of me! But I’m going to overcome that because admitting you have a problem is the first step right?

i need to get better at commenting! I wonder why my blog does not get more comments, i want more comments — well it’s because people like me are reading it and not commenting!
You need to give to receive, so i must give a bit more!
For you: It’s my first time here! What a great challenge.

I knew you could do it! And your comment was GOOD, too! It was useful and interesting and articulate and I was so excited to see it. I even commented you right back. This is how it should be, baby, and I am SO proud of you for going all the way with it! Good work.
Keep it up now!
Hugs!!!!!

I’m here confessing that I was about to post a comment over at The Bloggess’ blog today and I deleted it because I was afraid it was too corny. Hanging head in shame.
But I left other comments! On other blogs! Today! I swear!
Great idea! I’m totally Tweeting about the challenge.

I’m not sure if I’m a comment-phobe, but I’m definitely a click-phobe! Too busy clicking to the next site to comment on the one I’m at! I’ll try to do better
I need to join this! I read and read but rarely ever comment, I need to force myself to do it.
First?
