Last night, I was chatting with some friends on Twitter (funny how Twitter turns up in half my posts) and got on the subject of my unreasonable fear of commenting on people’s blogs. I ashamedly admitted that I am basically terrified of commenting on other people’s blogs. Silly? yeah, I know.

I go to everyone’s blogs, read their amazing, funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking posts and type well thought replies in the comments section. Then I reread what I wrote, decide I sound like a moron, delete it all and leave without saying a word. I’m self-conscious about what people think of my thoughts and opinions sometimes, and for no good reason.

My blogger friend, Kristen King, claimed she was staging an intervention. I was required to comment on her new blog today and I followed through. Heck, I even visited a couple of other friends and said a lil something on their latest posts.

You know what? I was okay! I didn’t get nasty emails calling me an idiot, no one unfollowed me on Twitter. I got nothing but nice responses that made me feel like I was part of their blog’s community. So this is what social networking is about! Who knew?

I’m so inspired by the whole thing that I have decided to issue my own challenge to everyone who is a comment-phobe and even to those who aren’t. I want each of you to visit a blog or two (or three or twelve) and comment on their latest post. If you want to play, add your blog to my Mr Linky and visit one of your neighbors on the Linky. Come back whenever you like and pick another new blog to visit and comment on.

We can all work on building our blog community, improving our social skills, and bringing in a little new traffic, to boot! I hope you decide to join me in the challenge and have a great time participating.
