Hooray for the Underdog! Giveaway

by Shannan on December 31, 2008

I’ve always been one to root for the underdog, so when I found out about Hooray for the Underdog! through a friend on Twitter, I couldn’t wait to share this great charitable site with all of you. My family has always had rescued animals, and giving a good home to a homeless animal is something that means a lot to me. Even though we currently have no pets, I still have a love for animals – dogs, in particular.

Hooray for the Underdog! was started by a husband and wife photography team, with a soft spot in their heart for rescued animals. Janet Healy and Joe Grisham of HealyGrisham Photography have created a cute and charming line of notecards, journals, buttons and more that feature adorable shots of rescued dogs.

These kind folks have taken things a step further with their online store, however. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of their store are donated to animal rescue charities, giving a little help to the Underdogs in the city of Dallas.

Some very big names have taken notice of the good things that Hooray for the Underdog! is doing. The Underdog line was featured as one of Oprah.com’s Top Gifts that Give Back of 2008. We all know that it doesn’t get much bigger than making an Oprah list!

I was given a few of their products and have decided to share the goodies with two of my readers. That’s right, we have TWO winners for this giveaway!

  • One winner will recieve this journal:
The back gives a profile of the dog - Underdog:Oscar Profile: Cage #127. Rescued in the nick of time Special Power: A true scholar. Understands the word "cookie" in any language.

Christmas Morning at Our House

by Shannan on December 30, 2008

I didn’t take too many pictures on Christmas morning, past the initial reactions when they saw their big, unwrapped presents from Santa. With the excitement of the day, the camera got lost amidst the piles of wrapping paper.  Anyway, here are a couple of pics that show perfectly what the main attractions of Christmas were for the two little ones.

That’s about all I have until I figure out how to edit the video off of the camera I borrowed from dad. I hope you and yours had as wonderful of a Christmas morning as we did!

December 22, 2008

This Christmas, we’re a little cash-poor, so I decided that the majority of the family are getting food gifts from us.
