I’m going to start this review off with a funny little story. One day several weeks back, I woke up in the morning and did my usual bathroom run. As I used the last of the toilet paper on the roll, I realized we didn’t have anymore. I grabbed some paper towels and stuck them on the counter, thinking I would make do and have hubby pick some up on his way home.
About 15 minutes later, there was a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting anything, so the package left on the porch surprised me. I opened it up and what did I find but a product sample for review — from Charmin! The toilet paper gods were smiling on me that day. Now I’m sure the people at Charmin had no idea that I was having a serious toilet paper issue, but their timing couldn’t have been better.
What I received from them was their latest product, Charmin Plus with a touch of Aloe. Now for the most part, I am a cheap-o when it comes to toilet paper. We usually buy whatever is cheapest, but I am seriously rethinking that approach, as those rolls usually don’t last very long. The six rolls of Charmin I received lasted about 3 times what a package of the cheap stuff does. I need to do the math on it, but I am thinking that it might just be the better bargain.
The Aloe in the paper also was a huge bonus. I found it quite soothing, particularly when my allergies were flaring up and I needed to blow my nose. Yes, I am one of those people who never has tissues, unless someone is in the midst of a major cold. The people at Charmin also pointed out that the product is also great for women who have recently had a baby and are a bit in the tender side “down south.” I remember those days quite vividly and think that they are probably right on target with that one. I dreaded wiping for weeks after I had each of my kids and I was lucky enough not to need stitches!
I am working on setting up a giveaway with Charmin, so keep checking back for an upcoming promotion. In the meantime, you can visit the Charmin website to find out what stores in your area carry Charmin Plus with Aloe or see where you can buy it online!

I have to admit, I have a weird addiction to toilet paper so when I saw the topic, I had to come running
. As a TP addict, I have to admit, this sounds like something I would like to try. Like you, we never have tissues on hand and I love aloe. Definitely do the math on the cost and let us know what you come up with. I always buy the cheapee stuff, but if I can justify the soft (sigh) stuff, I might just try it.
Annes last blog post..Looking for a Good Book?
I have to say, given the date of this review, I wonder if it was written by a P & G marketer. I used the Charmin with Aloe for years, but this year(2009) P & G replaced the old, wonderful one-ply product with a crappy two-ply that is nothing near as good. The new Charmin product tears when you try to use it and balls up on your backside. In true P & G style, the price for this new product remained the same although the quality is much lower and the the amount you get in each package is significantly less. My family was very sorry to see the old product go–as were a lot of people (if you read the feedback on the Charmin site and elsewhere)–but I won’t be replacing it with the new product. For a dollar a roll I think I can do better. You can try the product if you want, but I think even Mr. Whipple would be jumping ship on this one!
I have been a fan of charmin plus from the day it first hit the market. Now they have replaced the good stuff with an inferior product!
So funny to read this, as many people thing I am crazy since one of the very few things I am obsessed with was the OLD charmin plus, took it on vacation with me! I too, am very disappointed with the changed and have noticed the same as Mel with the way the product handles and will now have to find. if you read the ingredients between the 2 BIG differnces!
This NEW stuff is horrible. I LOVED the old, but I refuse to buy this new. I get totally bummed out each time I stand in front of the toliet paper bins..but any is better than this!
