At our house, weekday breakfasts are quick and easy, so when I was approached by Mom Bloggers Club to participate in a blog tour for General Mills cereals, the answer was a natural yes.
I grew up being refused many of the popular kids’ cereal choices, being told that they were “junk.” They were too sugary and weren’t healthy enough to be considered a good breakfast. And back then, my mom probably was right. Today, however, companies like General Mills realize the importance of good nutrition and have reformulated their cereals to provide a healthy, nutrition-filled breakfast or snack choice to kids and parents.
With their Grow Up Strong program, Big G is helping parents to make better food choices for their children, through some of their most popular cereals. Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are just a few of the cereals that have been fortified with calcium and vitamin D, to help build strong bones in children. These cereals are also made with whole grains, upping the nutrition factor even further.
Recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics doubled the amount of vitamin D recommended for children. Already, more than 3/4 of the children in the US weren’t getting enough calcium and vitamin D, so finding fortified food choices is important. Calcium and vitamin D fortified cereals, like those from Big G, can be a great choice for breakfast and even for fun and tasty snacks, helping kids to get the building blocks they need for healthy bones and teeth.
On top of it all, the Big G cereals are delicious. The little ones have really enjoyed snacking on Cinnamon Toast Crunch and even ask for it. I’ve had a bowl or two for a snack, as well, and love the taste of it. More than the flavor though, I love the fact that I can be confident that they are getting some of the nutrients they need to build strong little bodies.

This is a great artical I really enjoyed reading it. Vitamin D is really important and I think that everyone should up there intake of it.
