My Coloring Thing Review and Giveaway

by Shannan on February 11, 2009

I had high hopes and big dreams of making this review, or at least a portion of it, a vlog for you all. Sadly, between editing issues and my lack of a high speed connection for the week, those dreams have died. I put it off as long as I could, hoping I could get it together, but no such luck. You’ll just have to deal with the old standard.

My boys love to color and I have the custom decorated walls to prove it. The only thing I think they might like more is putting their grubby little paws all over mama’s laptop. Combining the two would be perfect bliss for them.

Someone else out there must have kids like mine, because My Coloring Thing! gives them the best of both worlds. This downloadable software lets them color right on the computer. It is easy enough to use that 3 yr old K can do it by himself, and 21 month old D can color with a little help from me.

Everything is done through your computer mouse, so they’ll be learning valuable motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as they play. There are different sized paint brushes available on the screen, allowing them to color large areas at once, or do detail work on a smaller space. The only thing I wish it had is an auto-fill option, because mama gets lazy after awhile.

The software also features music to go along with each image, as well as fun facts about the object you are coloring. These are both written and read, so that kids of any age can enjoy learning about the animals, instruments or whatever else they are coloring.

Pictures can be saved and printed easily, or just erased and colored over and over. And once the kids are tired of the demo pictures, new coloring kits can be purchased to keep the fun going. There are several themes to choose from, so finding one that your kids will love should be easy.

If you would like to give My Coloring Thing! a test run, simple visit their coloring software download page and get your free copy. It comes with the fully functional software and two demo pictures to color. If you like it, you can go back and purchase more coloring kits to give your kids more coloring options.

The wonderful people at My Coloring Thing! have given me the opportunity to give away three coloring kits to be used with their free software. So three of my readers’ kids are going to be very happy!

To enter, you must visit the My Coloring Thing! store and come back and comment with the coloring kit that you would choose if you were to win the giveaway. It’s that simple!

For additional entries (original entry must be completed) you can:

  • Leave a comment with a theme you would like to see for a new coloring kit
  • Download the software and let me know what you thought
  • Tweet about the giveaway (up to 3 times)
  • Stumble or Kirtsy this post
  • Blog the giveaway on your own blog
  • Subscribe to my feed
  • Add my button to your sidebar

Please leave a separate comment for each form of entry. Maximum entries allowed is ten.

This giveaway will close on Wednesday, February 18th at 11:59pm. Winners will be selected from eligible entries, through Random.org. Winners will be posted here and contacted by email. Prizes not claimed within 72 hours of email will be redrawn.

Comments are now closed. Thanks for entering!

If I could design a coloring book theme it would be of The Circus. I know most kids I taught in Preschool loved anything to do with the Circus, and so do my own children.
