A New Way to Embarrass Our Kids

by Shannan on February 19, 2009

A couple days ago, K had me, my Twitter friends, and a few other close internet buddies all but rolling on the floor in laughter. He’s wrapping up potty training (sorta) and was wearing his big boy underwear. I left his regular pants off, to help increase the chances of him making it to the potty. He happened to notice the flap on the front of this underwear and was quite intrigued by it.

He talked about his “pocket” for awhile and then dropped it, so I forgot about it, too. Sometime later, he comes to me and says he put his “munnies” in his “paw-a-kit.” I nodded, smiled and then tried to figure out what he meant, as he had no pants on. Then it hit me. He had put change in the front flap of his underwear! I died laughing, then went off to inform anyone on the Interwebs who might find it remotely amusing.

In chatting with my friends, I realized that the internet has the potential to be even worse for our kids than naked baby pictures on a first date. Not only can we embarrass them to those who they know and love, but their cute baby tales that we find so endearing will make amazing ammunition when they hit the teen dating years!

Will our kids need therapy from our blogging? Who knows? But hey, we survived the embarrassment our parents dished out, so they can deal with it too!
