Not so long ago, K decided that the little potty was for babies and he wanted to pee like daddy. Fabulous, wonderful…if that’s what makes you happy, pee all over the toilet seat. Mama will clean it up.
Little did I know, however, that letting him use the big potty was going to come with serious – and potentially expensive – consequences.
Today K comes out of the bathroom after spending a minute or two in there. I thought nothing of it. Until he says to me, “The boat was going in circles, Mama.”
Uhhh…the boat? What boat? “Bert’s boat!” Oh, great! I jumped up from the chair and ran to the bathroom. (ok, exaggeration there…my back’s out. More like drug myself slowly from the chair and walked like my grandma to the bathroom)
I find the toilet quite full, and his canoe with Bert from Sesame Street mysteriously missing from the toys in the bathtub.
The best I can tell, he’s stuck somewhere in the S-curve, far beyond my reach. I almost got my arm stuck in the toilet trying to save his life. (That would have been a fun one to explain to 9-1-1)
Yes, my friends, Bert was drowned in a freak canoe accident in my toilet. My deepest sympathies to Ernie. The toilet is currently in critical condition and things aren’t looking good. Tomorrow, we go in to recover the body and hope that we can save the poor toilet in the process…
For months – no, more like years, now – I have been dragging around a beat up backpack, filled with extra clothes, small toys, snacks, sippy cups, and diapers. The backpack is functional, and there’s room for plenty of stuff, but being a remnant from my college days, is far from cute and stylish.
I was offered a Chic&Cozy Blanket Bag from Chic Tots to review and snapped up the chance. Both boys are finally at an age where I don’t have to take everything and the kitchen sink, just to run out to Walmart for a quick trip, so I figured a bag like this would be right up my alley.
The Chic&Cozy Blanket Bag is one of the cutest things I have seen in awhile. It comes in six adorable styles. I was given the Desert Camo style to review. The exterior of the bag is made from a very durable fabric, while the interior is a soft, luxurious blanket. My boys are a bit big now to play on the blanket, but if sure makes a nice place for me to sit, while they’re running around outside! It is completely machine washable, which is another great bonus, especially when you have messy little boys.
What I thought was really great about the Chic&Cozy bag is its versatility. Not only can it be converted from a diaper bag to a blanket, giving babies a soft, clean place to play, but it can also be worn several different ways. Out of convenience, I used mine with the straps crisscrossed and set up like a backpack. Yeah, old habits are hard to break – plus you try chasing a 2 and 3 yr old with one hand tied down to a diaper bag!! You could also use it with shorter straps as a tote or extend them fully to make it a shoulder bag.
The only thing that I miss when using the Chic&Cozy over my regular bag is the extra space in the pockets. If I end up with wet clothes or a particularly messy diaper, there’s a chance that everything in the bag may get dirty. I’ve been keeping a plastic bag along for storage of wet and dirty clothes, to prevent myself from ruining this super cute bag while I’m using it.
Overall, I find the Chic&Cozy to be a fabulous find, AND an added selling point is that the product was designed and created by a MOM to solve her own diaper bag issues. I will definitely be hanging on to mine, even after my diaper bag days are over!
The Chic&Cozy can be purchased from the ChicTots website, with prices ranging from $49.95 to $39.95. Beginning May 24th, some styles will also be available in select Target stores across the country, so keep your eyes peeled!
ChicTots has also given me a fabulous Chic&Cozy bag to give away to one of you! To enter, simply visit the ChicTots website, then come back and let me know which of their fabulous products (besides the bag) is your favorite. It’s that easy!

Yeah, two is such a trying age. I’ve watched my kids get frustrated from their inability to do things, simple meltdowns from being overtired, and just plain getting into everything. But NOTHING has matched the series of hissy fits I have seen from 3 yr old K today. Seriously. I’m writing this post after giving [...]

Since Crayola gave me two prize packs to give away, I thought it would be fun to have a live giveaway for one! So here we go! First, here is what you’re fighting [...]
These days, between pollen counts that are out of this world and the swarm of mosquitoes that has taken up residence in my front yard, getting outside is a bit of a challenge for me. The kids don’t seem to care about my suffering, however. They want fresh air and sunshine whenever they get a [...]
I have been anxiously waiting to see what the government comes up with for our promised healthcare reform. In fact, that was a major issue in winning my vote in the election. After years of struggling to afford insurance for my kids, let alone myself and my husband, I would love to see the government [...]

With all these Mother’s Day reviews I’ve been dealing with and advertising media reminding me that Mother’s Day is right around the corner, I once again am facing the fact that my mom is no longer here. While I think I’m handling things a little better every day, I’m starting to get overwhelmed by the [...]
Heart of a Mother, written by Sheryl Roush, is a wonderful compilation of stories and inspiration for and about mothers and grandmothers. I have not yet had the opportunity to read the entire book, but what I have read is beautifully written, heartwarming, and enjoyable. Some of the excerpts I read brought back wonderful memories [...]
