My good friend Mamikaze and I were recently chatting on Twitter about all of the things that we needed to get our hands on before Blogher. (Yeah, I’m talking Blogher again…I’m excited, deal) In our extensive list, we both mentioned a serious need for decent luggage. The Twitter gods smiled on us, and before long I had an offer to review a carryon bag from Luggage Pros for my upcoming trip!
I received the Delsey Helium Fusion and was immediately impressed by how lightweight it was. The old, cheap carryon bag that I used before was quite weighty and would have put a serious dent in my weight limits before even setting foot on the plane. According to the company, the Delsey Helium line is 40% lighter than standard bags of this type, and I totally believe that from the weight of this bag.
The main compartment of the bag is large enough to fit a slightly above average sized two year old. Yeah, we tried it and no, I don’t recommend taking them on the plane that way. The actual measurements of the bag are 21″ x 14″ x 8.5″ and it is expandable by about 2.5 more inches, by releasing the zipper.
It has several pockets, which makes it easy to keep smaller items from rolling around inside the case, and gives you a place to stash your travel documents as you are running to and from the plane.
The bag’s handle is very easy to operate and can easily be used with one hand. This will definitely make things easier on me, when trying to get checked in for the plane with all my bags to juggle alone.
Hubby and the kids were impressed with the wheels. I was told that I was cool because my suitcase had “rims.” Just the selling point I was looking for. They are very pretty and shiny, though, and they seem to roll very easily.
I haven’t yet had the chance to put the Delsey Helium Fusion to the real test of a trip yet, but in three weeks, I can only imagine that it is going to serve me well on my big first excursion from home without the kids and hubby!
