We’re digging out from the big snowstorm over here, after a weekend of watching the pretty white stuff fall from the sky. Being so close to the coast, with the bay on the other side, we get a little screwed over with snowstorms and only got around 8-ish inches, if you take into account the nice sleet storm we had halfway through the fun.
The kids have had a blast this weekend, staring out the window at the falling snow and going out with daddy to build a snowman and throw snowballs and all of that great winter fun. The highlight of K’s weekend was making a snow angel. He’s so easy to please…when he wants to be. We all hang out, baked cookies, and just had a fabulous time being together.
You can pretend that this is where I posted fabulous pictures of my kids, romping in the snow. Cause I would have, if my camera worked. Please Santa, remember me on Friday, mmkay?
The only problem I have with weekend snowstorms like this is that you lose the fun of the snow day. Nothing was more exciting than waking up in the morning and watching to see if school was cancelled. When the storm hits on Saturday, you can pretty much squash that bit of fun. Granted AJ doesn’t have to go to school tomorrow because of the crappy conditions on the back roads, but even that is a bit anticlimactic, when you think about the fact that he’ll be out for the holidays on Wednesday anyway. Here’s hoping he gets a real mid-week snowstorm and a couple of good snowdays before the year is out.
I hope all of my friends who have been hit by more snow than I are warm and safe. Be careful on the roads, and if you’re stuck home with your kids for days, you’re in my prayers!
