It’s been a bit since I’ve posted about our fascination with trains in this house. Our toy bins are still overflowing with our wheeled friends and just last night, I rolled over to find a couple of engines sharing my bed. Trains have held my boys attention and been a constant companion of theirs practically since they could sit up.
Two years ago, I indulged their fantasies and took them to Strasburg, PA for A Day Out with Thomas. I’ll never forget the looks on their faces as Thomas was before them, larger than life. K still talks about riding on the “real” Thomas, though D was still a little young then to remember it well.
This weekend, however, we have been offered tickets to experience the fun of A Day Out with Thomas, once again! We’ll also be visiting the Choo-Choo Barn, which we missed on our last trip and staying at a fabulous Lancaster hotel.
Watch my tweets this weekend for reports from our trip, plus posts next week with pictures and fun from our exciting trip to the Lancaster/Strasburg area! You can also see tweets from the @TrueBlueEngine himself!
Thomas is returning for another visit to the Strasburg Railroad, beginning this Saturday! Visit the Day Out with Thomas Schedule for more information or to find out when Thomas is coming to your area and to reserve your own ride behind everyone’s favorite engine!
Disclosure: I have been provided with free tickets to A Day Out with Thomas and the Choo-Choo Barn, plus a media rate at the Doubletree Lancaster hotel, in exchange for sharing my honest opinions and experiences.
Pulling out of the station for its 16th consecutive ride on the rails, the Day Out With Thomas: Leader of the Track Tour 2011 will visit more than 45 cities in the United States and Canada. Day Out With Thomas is the only place for families to take a ride with a 15-ton replica of everybody’s favorite No. 1 engine, Thomas the Tank Engine, and enjoy Thomas-themed activities at the Imagination Station, including stamps, temporary tattoos and hands-on arts and crafts. Each year the tour grows, traveling to new destinations, adding new activities and welcoming new visitors.
